2024 OK High School Indoor Championship: Field Events

Long Jump

The Boys Long Jump is set to have 7 preliminary flights kicking off at 9:00 am with the top 8 athletes moving on to a final. The top 8 entries comprise the final of the 7 flights. All athletes in this final heat are all entered over 21 feet including 3 jumpers who are entered in over the 22-foot mark. The three entries expected to top the podium include Atticus Thompson (Clinton High School, 22-00.00), Carvelle Jones (OK Flash Track Club) 22-00.50 Cleveland Williams (Mcalester High School) 22-06.0.

The Girls Long Jump is set to have 7 flights. Top 8 athletes will be awarded 3 extra jumps to determine the champion. The top entries are placed in flight 7, with four athletes jumping 18 feet or better. These athletes, Laniyah Curry (Santa Fe High School 18-00.00), Kassidi Watkins (Unattached 18-00.00), Geralyn Bunn (Tulsa Union High School 18-05.00), and Campbell Barta (Bartlesville 18-06.00).

High Jump

Girls High Jump has a single final flight. The highest seeded jump is from Jacey Hammon (Plainview High School 5-08.00). Plainview also has another athlete (Emory Glaven) seeded close to the top with a seeded jump of 5-06.00. 

Boys High Jump is the same as the girls' single final flight. There are 40 athletes entered in this event, led by Kellen Rutledge from Blanchard High School seeded in at 6-04.00. Outside of Rutledge, there are two other athletes seeded in at 6-02.00 Damontre Boykins of Northwest Classen and Malakhi Straker of Tulsa Union High School. This event will be one to watch this weekend, as a potential 6-05.00 or over jump is likely. 

Shot Put

The Boys Shot Put has 7 preliminary flights kicking off at 1:00pm with the top 8 marks moving on to the final directly following. Ten athletes entered over the 45 foot mark and will be in hot contention to make the 8 man final. Three notable entries have marks greater than 50 feet. Colten Christian (Collinsville High School) 53-05.00, Zane Zamanski (Southwest Covenant) 54-08.00, Jack Keith (Collinsville High School) 59-02.25

Shot Put on the girls side has 8 flights straight final. Flight 8 includes the highest-seeded throws. All of these athletes have seeded over 36 feet, with two being above 40 feet. These two athletes, Kat Meacham (Clinton High School 41-00.00) and Jenna Blackford (Altus High School 40-06.00) are two athletes to stay tuned to for this weekend. 

Pole Vault

Girls Pole Vault is a 1 flight final set to begin at 9am. Out of the 41 athletes in this event, the two leaders separating themselves from the rest off of seed entry are Gabbi Wilkinson from Broken Arrow with a seeded jump 10-07.00 and Amara Hendricks from Jenks High School with a jump of 10-09.00. 

Boys Pole Vault will begin at 11:30am. There are 27 athletes entered in this event with one separating himself by over a foot from the rest of the group. This athlete, Cooper Wakley from Broken Arrow High School is seeded in at 15-01.00. Behind Wakley are Parker Owens (Unattached), Ashden Hopkins (Broken Arrow High School), Zurich Chicoine (Tulsa Union High School), and Tyler Deisering (Norman North High School), who are all seeded in at 14-00.00.
