Jonesboro Nettleton senior Donna Douglas was just named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the Arkansas girls track and field 2024 season.
The University of Tennessee signee went undefeated this year in both the shot put and discus competitions for the second consecutive season.
Her best throws this year were 175 feet in the discus and 48-3. Douglas added a second 5A discus state title and her third straight shot put titles at the state meet and Meet of Champions.
Douglas ended the season with a US No. 14 ranking in the shot put, but it was the addition of other factors that led to her Gatorade POY award.
Academic achievement and exemplary character are also requirements to this award. Douglas maintained a 3.12 gpa and has volunteered at learning facilities and daycare facilities in her area.
