Kennedy Lightner wins the 60m State Championship, Sets New Meet Record
With the Arkansas Indoor State Championships just 17 days away, over the next few weeks, Milesplit Arkansas is going to take a look back at some of the best moments from the meet's long history.
In 2017, Kennedy Lightner from North Little Rock completed the elusive sprints triple, winning the 60m, 200m, and 400m dash races at the biggest indoor meet of the season. En route to breaking the tape in all three sprinting events, Lightner also broke the meet record in the 60m (6.95) and the 200m (21.90).
Just a sophomore at the time, Lightner would go on to win three more indoor titles in the same events as a senior in 2019, totaling 6 titles in just two indoor state meets.
Lightner would go on to attend the University of Kentucky, where he was a part of the record-breaking 4x200m and 4x400m squads and would qualify for the NCAA Championships each of his final 4 years as a Wildcat.
The 2025 Arkansas HS Indoor Championships are set to take place on February 22nd and will be available to be streamed on Milesplit Arkansas.
