Starlyn Edwards Announces Commitment to South Dakota State

After a few months of uncertainty, one of the best distance runners in Arkansas has found her next home.

Starlyn Edwards announced her commitment to South Dakota State University on Sunday via Instagram.

[From Edwards]: It's truly been a journey as I reentered the recruiting process. Everyone has been so supportive through this process and I can say it's a blessing. God always has a reason for anything and everything. It's been a bumpy road but I can't say I could be any happier with my decision. With that, I want to announce my verbal commitment to South Dakota State University!! Go Jacks!!

Edwards' announcement comes just four months after she announced her de-commitment to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock following the departure of the head coach.

The senior from Paragould is coming off a pair of 5A state championships in the indoor 1,600m and 3,200m last month and finished 3rd at the cross country state championships in November. Edwards also won state titles in the outdoor 1,600m and 3,200m last spring.

Entering her final outdoor track season, Edwards is ranked 2nd in the 1,600m and 3,200m all-time for 5A - continuing to close in on Lake Hamilton's Olivia Pielemeier.
