El Dorado has been one of the top girls programs in the state over the last few seasons and they proved to be the best in 5A on Thursday.
Scoring 82 points, the El Dorado girls captured their third 5A state championship in four years, continuing the team's dynasty and status as the 'team to beat' in the classification for years to come.
On the track, the team found immediate success in the sprint relays, winning the 4x100m and finishing second in the 4x200m.
Rihanna Gray finished 3rd in the 300m hurdles, while Christian Dade finished 5th. Dade also picked up valuable points earlier in the day in the 100m hurdles.
It was off the track where the Wildcats did most of their damage.
Zyron Brock got things started in the long jump, winning the event on her final jump. The senior jumped 17-7 on her third attempt, which would have still finished second, but later connected on a huge 18-0.5 jump, recording the 10th best jump in meet history.
Brock had a busy day, scoring important points in the 100m and 200m dash events after jumping again later in the day during the girls triple jump, finishing second.
Her teammate Amiria Jackson finished 3rd, scoring the Wildcats an extra 14 points in the event.
Alexis Willis also picked up a big win in the high jump competition, clearing 5-3 on her final attempt.
Congratulations to the El Dorado Wildcats on their 5A title!
