History.
That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Isaac Pohlmeier.
Earlier this week, the senior from Ozark Catholic finished his high school career the same place it started - at the top, capturing three individual distance titles and leading his 4x800m relay team to their first state title at the 2A State Championshipsp in the classification.
Following his record-breaking performance in Quitman, Pohlmeier's total state title count now rests at 20 - something I would dare to say is an Arkansas "unofficial record." (and if anybody has any record of this not being it, please let me know!)
Throughout his career, Pohlmeier earned significant honors, including winning 4 straight individual 1,600m state championships, sweeping all 3 distance events each of the last three years, winning 3 straight cross country state titles, and anchoring the Ozark Catholic 4x800m championship teams three years in a row.
Pohlmeier capped off his high school career at the Arkansas Meet of Champions last night, dipping under 2-minutes in the 800m for the first time in his career.
Perhaps the better word to use for Isaac is dominance.
Not only has Pohlmeier been one of the best individual distance runners and athletes in the Natural State over the past few years, but he has also been an incredibly important member of his team.
In his four years at Ozark Catholic, Pohlmeier will walk away with six team titles, including four in cross country, one in indoor track from 2023, and one in outdoor track on Monday.
Pohlmeier announced his commitment to Ouachita Baptist University last fall and will compete for one of the state's best distance programs starting next fall.
Congratulations to Isaac Pohlmeier on an incredible career and we look forward to seeing what's in store for you next!
