Gans Creek Classic

Arkansas made the "Show Me" state meet its own at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia. In a field that also drew elite squads from Illinois, Alabama, Iowa and Tennessee, the Razorback State stole the Elite Varsity Girls spotlight as Providence Academy senior Gabbie Bishop won in 16:59.90-the race's lone sub-17-while sister Maggie Bishop grabbed 3rd (17:43.50).
Northwest Arkansas depth kept pouring in: Samantha Schmersahl of Rogers finished 4th (17:46.70) and Bentonville freshman Flannery O'Daniel took 5th (17:47.20), helping the Tigers claim the team title with 94 points, a 1:11 split and an 18:31 average. Providence Academy's front-loaded punch carried it to 5th (189 points) with an 18:36 average despite a wide 3:18 spread.
The Elite boys' race had the same Arkansas flavor. Mountain Home's Jackson Free (14:52.80) 3rd and Bentonville's Brian Burns headlined the contingent with 5th (15:00.30), teammate Sean Burns added 10th (15:22.10), Garrett Barr of Mountain Home placed 8th (15:19.10), and Shiloh Christian freshman Brice Allen impressed in 9th.
Missouri powerhouse Liberty North ultimately won a razor-tight team battle with 98 points behind a crisp 0:31 split and 15:32 average, but Bentonville was a very close second, underscoring its national relevance. Mountain Home's 4th (208 points) came with a bold, go-for-it approach, 15:48 average, but the only top-five spread over a minute (1:39). From individual fireworks to podium-level team depth, Arkansas absolutely showed up at Gans Creek.
