Lilly Beshears Again Named AR Gatorade Player Of The Year

Rogers senior Lilly Beshears has been named the 2025 Gatorade Arkansas Girls Cross Country Player of the Year, earning the prestigious honor for the second consecutive season and further cementing her place as one of the state's most accomplished distance runners. One of the highest awards in high school sports, the Gatorade Player of the Year recognizes excellence in athletic achievement, academic performance, and exemplary character. With this distinction, Beshears stands as Arkansas' top high school cross country athlete and joins an elite alumni network that includes business leaders, coaches, and standout athletes at the highest levels.

On the course, Beshears delivered another championship-caliber season. The senior captured her second straight Class 6A Arkansas state title, winning the AHSAA championship in 17:29.44 and once again proving she was the standard in the state. She consistently rose to the occasion in high-level competition, finishing fifth at the Brooks South Cross Country Championships in 17:10.61 to earn First Team All-Region honors before advancing to the national stage. At the Brooks XC Championships, Beshears placed 29th against one of the deepest fields in the country. She also earned Second Team All-Region recognition with a ninth-place finish at the Nike Cross South Regional, where she was the top Arkansas finisher. One of her signature performances came at the Southlake 5K Invitational, where she ran 16:47.70 to defeat Texas Gatorade Player of the Year Macy Wingard, underscoring her ability to compete-and win-against the nation's best.

Beshears' excellence extends well beyond race day. In the classroom, she has maintained an outstanding 4.26 weighted GPA and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the mathematics honor society. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete at Brigham Young University, continuing both her academic and athletic career at the Division I level. Her commitment to service is equally impressive. Beshears is active in her school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Literacy Legends Club, and she has volunteered extensively with organizations including the Paralympics, Fellowship Bible Church, Pedal It Forward, the Husky Hoedown, and the Comets youth soccer program. She has also given back by working at road races, track meets, and assisting with the City of Rogers Tornado Cleanup.

By excelling across every pillar of the Gatorade Player of the Year criteria, Lily Beshears has authored a season and a career that reflects consistency, leadership, and impact. Her back-to-back selection as Arkansas' top girls cross country athlete is a testament not only to her dominance on the trails but also to the character and dedication that define her success.
