Black and Gold Game Brings A Close To Golden Lions Spring Drills

PINE BLUFF, Ark.- The University of Arkansas-Pine football team wrapped up their spring conditioning drills on Saturday with the Annual Black and Gold football game.
The inter-squad scrimmage was highly competitive as Golden Lions football players sought to make a lasting final impression on the UAPB coaching staff.
“Overall we're pleased with what we saw out of our players over the course of the past few weeks,” said UAPB head coach Monte Coleman. “Offensively we feel that we're right on pace with where we need to be going into next season. Defensively we had guys out their flying around and making plays and that's exactly what we wanted to see today. “
Place kicker Chris Ewald got the scoring started off with successful field goal attempts of 27and 43 yards. UAPB senior wide receiver Raymond Webber electrified the crowd in the second quarter with a 62 yard touchdown reception from Josh Boudreaux which brought the score to 10-3 at the 13:03 mark.
The Black team would later close the gap to 13-10 after Dhabion Woodfin found the end zone on a one touchdown run. The Gold team would subsequently seal the game on a 99 yard touchdown toss from Boudreaux to Webber giving them a 20-13 advantage which would be the games final score.
“We're very excited about a lot of the things we saw out of our football team this spring,” added Coleman. “Moving forward we feel like we will have all the tools needed for success with the progress we made during these spring drills. We challenged our guys to continue to improve over the summer by getting bigger, faster and stronger in addition to staying sharp mentally.”
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will open the 2010 season on the road versus the University of Texas El Paso on Saturday, September 4th in El Paso, Texas.
