BATON ROUGE, La. -Â Raymond Webber caught 11 passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns as Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Southern University 41-23 Saturday night.
Webber, who came into the game averaging a nation-best 9.67 catches per game, caught touchdown passes of 31, 33 and 26 yards from Louisiana native Josh Boudreaux, who completed 24 of 29 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns.
The game was tied 13-13 at halftime, but Webber scored twice in a 3:05 span of the third quarter, the second touchdown set up by an interception by Jamel Maxwell.
The Golden Lions (2-2, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter on a 42-yard pass from Boudreaux to Adrian Moore, and Justin Billings' 64-yard run.
During the contest Boudreaux set a new school record for pass completions (24) and passing yardage (366) in a game.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff will now get set to host their home opener against Prairie View A&M in an important SWAC West match-up. The contest is set to take place on Thursday, October 7th and will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU. Kickoff time is set for 6:30 pm CST at Golden Lions Stadium. Â
