As we get deeper into the cross country season with the first full week of October, we decided to start going a little deeper in this week's fastest times in the nation update as we extend from a top 50 list to 200 deep of the fastest 5K performers in country currently in the MileSplit database!

US #18 ranked Devin Clark of Smithson Valley and defending Texas 5A state champ Paige Hofstad of New Braunfels faced off in a race of arguably the state's two best distance runners runners in San Antonio this past weekend. Clark, the 4:46 miler, was able to distance herself from the 10:25 two miler Hofstad for a 10 second win with the fastest 5K time in Texas so far with a 17:26 clocking at the UTSA Richard Romo Classic. 

MileSplit's Top 15 XC Girls Individuals for the Foot Locker South Region states as of September 3rd. Breaking up the country into four regions, these top 15 individual lists will be updated monthly on the first week of every month.

The fastest returning girls runners within the Foot Locker South Region for the upcoming 2014 cross country season between the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Pre-season interview with Devin Clark of Smithson Valley HS, the fastest ranked Texas cross country returnee and 2014 5A 3200m State Champion, is hoping to bring her team to the state meet and take home her first individual cross country state title.

Devonte Lacy the senior from Klein Oak finished his career off in style winning his last High School Meet. It was not just any meet it was the Brooks PR Meet which features some of the best athletes in the US.
