Isaac Pohlmeier had a fantastic season.
The junior from Ozark Catholic finished inside the top 5 in all ten races he raced this season, which included three wins and three runner-up finishes. Pohlmeier picked up wins at the Elkins Invitational, 1A Regional XC Championships, and most recently, in the 1A Boys Championship race last Friday.
After reviewing the times entered in the Milesplit database, we have determined that Pohlmeier also broke the 17-year-old 1A state record this season, which Johnny Purvis from Jasper previously owned. Jasper broke the record at the Arkansas Cross Country State Championships in 2006.

Earlier this season, the junior finished fifth at the Van Buren Classic, running a personal-best time of 16:10.35 and unknowingly broke the Arkansas Division 1A cross country record in the process.
This past week at the Arkansas Cross Country State Championships, Pohlmeier put an exclamation point on his historic season, collecting his third win and running a 16:31.04, the fastest from an individual from a Catholic school across the two-day event.
The win was the rising star's fifth state championship and with so much time left in his high school career, that is a number that is sure to increase over his final year and a half.
