While the outdoor season in Arkansas is underway, the indoor season continues beyond the Natural State borders.
Throughout the week, Milesplit Arkansas will be providing quick recaps and highlights from the various indoor national meets happening across the United States.
Starting us off today is Ava Goetz, the standout senior from Fayetteville, who finished 2nd in the Pentathlon at Nike Indoor Nationals in New York.
Goetz would go on to score a new personal best 3,593 points over all five events, which is an 182-point improvement from her competition at The Galleria Games in December.
Goetz's Finishes per Event:
Ava Goetz - Nike Indoor Nationals Pent. Results by Event | Score |
800m Run - 2:23.38 (5th) | 778 |
60m Hurdles - 9.34 (11th) | 840 |
High Jump - 1.69m (1st) | 842 |

In 2023, the senior finished 8th at New Balance Indoor Nationals in the Pentathlon, scoring 3,196 points, and won the Heptathlon at the AAU Regional 15 Qualifier in June.
Thanks to her performance at the Armory over the weekend, Goetz finishes the high school indoor track season with the 8th-highest mark in the United States and the AR #1 mark in the high jump, having jumped 5-7 at the Best Your Best Meet in Kansas.
The future Colorado Buffalo kickstarted her final high school track season at the Y Timing Running Festival, finishing second in the 100m hurdles and running a 15.07, which ranks #3 in Arkansas this season.
With just one outdoor track season left, the multis' star will be looking to finish her high school career on a high note and win her first state championship. Fortunately for Ava, there are plenty of events she can choose from.
