Out of State Race Report - Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers

Bentonville

@ Southlake #1 XC Invite - 68 degrees

I don't think I raced cross country below 70 degrees once in my high school career while I lived in Texas. It was a beautiful morning at Bob Jones Park and for the first time this season, Bentonville was able to see how they stack up against some of the best teams in this area of the country and the Tigers took full advantage.

Boys Individuals:

4. Owen Kelley - 14:58.70

31. Carter Beasley - 15:49.40

32. Dean Pickett - 15:52.00

43. Tishan Abeyagunawardene - 15:58.50

47. Ryan Fernstrom - 16:00.00

61. Logan Hurley - 16:10.10

79. Harper Jones - 16:20.90

Boys Team:

1. Southlake Carroll - 47 points

2. Northwest Nelson - 86 points

3. Lucas Lovejoy - 125 points

4. Bentonville - 142 points

The Tigers were missing Matthew Shelly, their presumptive No. 1, but Kelley stepped right up and filled in perfectly for the Tigers 5-time state champion.

The Tigers showed up and competed with the best, taking down several of Texas' best including Canyon, Waxahachie, Hebron, and Marcus.

Girls Individuals:

46. Everly O'Daniel - 19:11.90

47. Carley Cole - 19:13.00

51. Madysen Hantuba - 19:16.00

60. Mya Hurley - 19:27.50

73. Lily Aicklen - 19:39.50

113. Sarah Penturf - 20:09.60

119. Carli Lux - 20:20.20

Girls Team:

8. Fayetteville - 244 points

9. Deer Creek - 247 points

10. Bentonville - 247 points

This new-look Bentonville girls team competed well in a race full of the regions best. Texas took home the top seven spots in the girls race, but was interrupted by teams from Arkansas and Oklahoma at 8 through 10.

While the Tigers came up just three points short of Fayetteville, they will have plenty of time before the two teams meet again, which is likely to come at the Mountie Classic on October 29th.
