Out of State Race Report - Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers

Rogers

@ Greg Wilson Classic - 56 degrees

If 68 degrees in Texas sounded nice, try the weather in Kansas at 8am yesterday. The Mounties had a spectacular day in Overland Park and will have a lot to build on entering their trip to North Texas next weekend.

In their first race of the season, the boys from Rogers had an impressive day, putting their top four runners in the top 22, competing against some very talented squads.

Henry Woods had a terrific day, running an AR #14 en route to his seventh place finish. With so much season left, count on the Mounties to only get better from here.

I'm not sure Rogers is going to be invited back to Kansas next year.

The Mountie girls just flat-out dominated this weekend, nearly putting up a perfect score while also flexing their incredible depth.

Perhaps the best thing for Rogers were the performances from Samantha Schmersahl and Hattie Ray Beshears, who finished 3rd and 5th. Schmersahl finished 6th at the 6A state meet in the 1,600m this spring and seems to have carried that momentum onto the grass, while Hattie Ray Beshears was simply outstanding in her first high school 5,000m.

It is wild to think that this squad of seven will all be back in 2025, but this team is clearly capable of capturing all of their goals this fall and they will be back in action at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival next weekend.
