Four Girls Run Sub 19 to Lead Rogers to Win in Texas

Entering the 2024 cross country season, the girls from Rogers had some big goals.

While defending their state championship they won last season is a big priority, the Mounties also have their eye on making it out to Portland and qualifying for the NXN Team Championships. This morning, this squad took a strong step towards that goal.

Against some of the best teams in Texas, the Rogers girls not only took down the Lovejoy Fall Festival, but dominated the entire field, scoring 51 points,  which was 61 points better than second place.

The field included the Texas 5A state champions from last season Lucas Lovejoy, multiple time NXN qualifiers Flower Mound, and several other strong teams such as The Woodlands, Northwest Nelson, and Lewisville Marcus.

Lilly Beshears led the way for Rogers finishing 3rd and running a blazing 17:21.4. Samantha Schmersahl was not far behind in 7th as she also ran a personal best time of 18:22.3.

Elizabeth Scudder and Katherine Scudder came in next for the Mounties. The two sisters finished 12th and 16th while Kayla Eggers rounded out the team's top 5 in 24th.

The girls were not satisfied with just winning, but wanted to flex their incredible depth as freshman Hattie Ray Beshears finished 28th, Anna Scudder finished 32nd, and Malayla Johnson finished 43rd.

Today's performance in Texas this morning not only cements them as the team to beat in Arkansas, but has put the entire region on notice as one of the top teams in the entire region - one that will surely compete for a spot at biggest team championship in the nation.
