Today, we have Cutter Franks, a senior from Gravette High School to continue our 2024-2025 Senior Spotlights!

Thank you Cutter for taking the time to answer some questions for the website! For those interested in participating in this year's senior spotlight, please check out this article!

...

1) Where are you from and when did you first start running?

I was born in Grand Junction Colorado and I've been in Gravette Since I was in kindergarten. I started running my Sophomore year with track.

2) So far in your high school career, what is the most memorable running memory that you have?

My most memorable Running memory was doing my first 800m in track after having only two days of practice, and I sprinted the whole thing and got passed by two people at the last second putting me in 3rd place

3) What has been the most difficult workout you've run during your running career?

Probably doing hill sprints. When you run up a hill, you want to keep the pace that you were running before the hill. Don't speed up, don't slow down.

4) Who are some of your greatest competitors you have raced throughout your career?

My first year of cross country was really tough because we had to compete against Pea Ridge.

5) What were some of the most difficult obstacles that you have faced during your career?

The most difficult things are trying to stay consistent and balancing school, work, sports, and Marine training.

6) What will you miss most about high school running?

I will definitely miss the team and the atmosphere of running.

7) What advice would you give to a rising freshman competing in their first high school season in 2024/2025?

STAY CONSISTENT. Make sure you stretch after every run and drink lots of water. Eat healthy and be supportive of your team. If your team has a bad run, it's ok, the grind never stops.

8) Who are some people you would like to thank for your success in high school?

For running I would like to thank Coach Chris Weller. He is an amazing person and an even better coach. We were very sad to have Coach Hardgrave leave from coaching this year but when she was coaching us she made sure we were in line and practicing hard. Coach Herrlein for becoming an assistant coach for XC and helping us stay dedicated to the sport. I'll be seeing him and Coach Weller in my next sports season for wrestling.

9) XC or Track?

In the past, I would answer this without hesitation and say track. However, now as I have been through 4 years of high school I would now say cross country. The stress of only having to stress and warm-up for one race is really nice. I also love the family aspect of cross because everyone there does the same thing as you and it provides a common ground which makes it easier to meet new people and build lasting friendships.

10) Hobbies outside of running:

They are both equally good for certain reasons but racing wise I'll have to go with track because I love the mile and the 4×8.

11) Favorite sports team:

College-OSU Pro- Cincinnati Bengals

12) Who is your role model?

My role model is Spencer Lee.

13) Favorite Movie:

Harry Potter for series and HackSaw Ridge for movie.

14) Favorite Song/Artist/Music:

I listen to all kinds of music genres and sometimes I listen to opera before wrestling matches.

15) If you could have one super power, what would it be and why:

If I could have any super power, I would want the superpower to have all superpowers so that I could help people and myself.
