It's finally here! Welcome to the greatest week of the year - it's state championship week. And for the final time this regular season, it is time to crown this week's Milesplit Arkansas Girls Runner of the Week!
Lauren Thompson won last week's award following her win at the Arvest Bank Invitational. The sophomore from Jonesboro crossed the line in 18:44.14, which was nearly two minutes faster than second place and the fastest time run in the state all week. Thompson currently owns an AR #9 and the 5th fastest time in 6A, which should open the door for the underclassmen to improve upon her sixth place finish at the state meet a season ago.
Voting for this week's ROTW award closes on Wednesday at 2:00 pm CST.
