ARAKANSAS No.1 400m RELAY WAS JUST ONE OF MANY HIGHLIGHTS FOR BENTONVILLE WEST ON FRIDAY

Bentonville West took the week off for Spring Break, but you wouldn't be able to tell by watching the Wolverines compete on Good Friday at the Cyclone Relays in Russellville. West scored 239 points in the boys division and 234.5 points in the girls division.
The boys team was led by senior Marcus Myhan, who won the high jump (6-6), triple jump (44-3).
In the field events, Bentonville West was led by weight man Colin Gibson who won the shot put (51-7.75) and discus (151-0).
Other event winners on the boys side included juniors Ashton Jones (51.72)in the 400m and Will Brown in the 800m (1:58.71), Cash Turpin (13-4) in the pole vault, Dalton Lingo (14.72), in the 110m hurdles, and Brooks Thompson in the 1600m.
Thompson's win over heavy favorite Jackson Free from Mountain Home was the most dramatic of the day of the Wolverines. Thompson trailed Free for the first 1500m before deciding to make a move on the home straight away at Cyclone Stadium. Thompson finished with a personal record time of 4:28.09.
Free, who ran the second leg on Mountain Home's winning 4x800m team earlier in the meet, finished with a 4:28.34.
In a 4x100m battle of the top two fastest 4x100m in Arkansas, Bentonville West came out on top over Van Buren, led by Toray Wilford , who won the 100m and ran leg on Van Buren's winning 4x200m team. The Wolverines finished with a 41.89. Just shy of their state-leading time of 41.69 earlier this year.
The Bentonville West girls team were led a couple of young sprinters. Sophomore Ashlen Anderson won the 200m (26.21) and finished as the runner up in the 100m (12.92). Freshman Josie Reithmaier (1:00.74) won the 400m.
Other Wolverines scoring points in bunches on the girls' side included sophomores Caitlin Paul and Rebekkah Baker. Paul finished second in both the 800m (2:24.61) and 1600m (5:12.68). Baker finished second in the 100m (16.50) and 300m hurdles (47.99).
The Wolverines went 1-2 in the girls pole vault. Senior Trinka Sullivan picked up the only field event win with a jump of 11-3. Sophomore teammate Leana Mcoy was second with a jump of 10-9.
In the throwing events, senior Emerson Netherland scored 14 points by finishing second in the shot put (35-6.50) and third in the discus (117-7).
