This week's MileSplit Arkansas Future Star is Isaac Paul, a distance runner who recently completed his eighth grade year at Russellville Junior High.
Paul saved his best for last during the 2026 season. He ran a personal record 4:54 in the 1600 meters at the River Valley JH Conference Meet finishing as the runner-up. In that same meet, Paul ran a personal record 2:15 in the 800 meters.
Paul finished as the No. 13 Arkansas junior high miler. In the 800 meters, he finished just outside of the top 30 at No. 31.
"Through my years in track and field, I've learned discipline, determination, and strength," Paul said. "I believe I have shown skill, but, even more so, I have shown potential as I have many people who have my back guiding me into a future of track and field. I know I have the ability and determination to achieve these long-lasting goals of mine."
Paul credits his coaches for helping to achieve early success in the sport.
"I've had several coaches, but the biggest help has been Coach Frazier, who has, along with my teammates, shown me how to work hard," Paul said. "They have motivated me and helped me to stay healthy."
When Paul is not competing, training to compete, or taking care of his studies, Paul enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
"I try to manage all of my school work on top of everything, but outside of that I try to make as much time as I can for my friends and family," Paul said. "Whether that's playing games together or meeting up at a restaurant or spending the night at someone's house."
