Frick Files II: Arkansas squads shine in the Lone Star State

Milesplit AR visits the Little Rock XC Classic

If you were in Little Rock on Saturday morning for the Little Rock XC Classic, you might have noticed a few Milesplit shirts floating around.

For the first of many trips for the Milesplit Arkansas crew in 2023, Bryant High School hosted some of the best schools in Central Arkansas for a great season opener.

River Hardman got things started in the boys race, leading the way to his victory of the season, running a 16:01.52. His teammate from Russellville, Paul Rivera, who enthusiastically told us his goal for 2023 was to dip under the 16-minute mark in the 5K, finished second, running an impressive 29-second season best.

The duo helped anchor Russellville to a second-place finish, only behind Bryant, who scored a sensational 53 points.

Zoe Williamson was electric in the girls race, running to the first of what should be many victories this fall. The senior ran an 8-second personal best on a very difficult course and for the second straight week, put the 4A girls division on notice, establishing herself as one of the best runners in the entire state.

Led by Brooklyn Nicholson's fourth-place finish, Russellville won the girls team race, scoring 64 points, beating out Cabot by 24 points.

In two weeks, the Milesplit Arkansas team will be on site for the Cyclone Invitational in Russellville for photos and meet coverage!
