Lilly Beshears outleans Haley Loewe at the line to win the 1,600m title
The Arkansas HS Indoor Championships are less than two days away and today, Milesplit Arkansas takes a look back at the epic duel between Lilly Beshears and Haley Loewe in last season's 1,600m championship race.
This was not the first meeting between Beshears and Loewe, who at this point had become familiar foes. The Bentonville senior had the upper hand in their previous head-to-head matchups, holding a 9-7 record over the Rogers sophomore. But on the biggest stage, Beshears flipped the script. In a thrilling 1,600m final, she edged out Loewe at the line, taking the win in 5:02.25 to Loewe's 5:02.28."
Loewe would get her redemption later that day, claiming the 3,200m state title. Since then, Beshears has cemented herself as one of the nation's top distance talents, qualifying for national meets in California, Illinois, and Oregon.
Fast forward to today, Loewe competes for the University of Tennessee while Beshears will be looking to add a few more state championships to her resume this weekend at the indoor state meet.
The 2025 Arkansas HS Indoor Championships are set to take place on February 22nd and will be available to be streamed on Milesplit Arkansas.
