Frick Files 6: Welcome to October Cross Country

Welcome back to Milesplit Arkansas' Frick Files, a weekly column featuring the best distance running in the Natural State every Sunday.

This week was the first week of racing in October, which in my opinion, is when the cross country season really starts. In September, you have time to work out the kinks, get into racing shape, and run fast times. In October, the state meet is looming and now you have to start racing. It matters who you beat and how much you beat them by. It is no longer a time trial and all that matters is where you finish. It's beautiful.

Competition was scarce across Arkansas this weekend, but there is still plenty to talk about today, as we will dive into the top performances of the week, along with other storylines, and awarding "Frick's Pick," which will highlight the distance runner with the best performance each week.

Without further ado, let's dive into this week's "Frick Files"!
