Last night at the CBC Warrior Invitational Jonesboro's Harper Huckabee finished first, running 15:53.20, against a field of 123 to win his first cross country race of the season and first ever 5,000m.
Huckabee finished 5th at this meet a season ago where he ran a 17:06.20. Finishing over 30 seconds ahead of second place, yesterday's race was a 1:13 improvement from this race a season ago and 59 seconds faster than his personal best, which he set at the Arvest Bank Blazer Invitational later in the year.
Last season, Huckabee finished 51st at the Arkansas State Cross Country Championships in Class 6A and considering his race last night, he will be looking to make a big jump on last season's finish later this season at Oaklawn.
Congrats Harper!
