It was a beautiful morning in Bella Vista on Saturday morning for inaugural the Sugar Creek Showdown.
The girls from Bentonville got the day started by winning the girls race, knocking off a pair of Oklahoma schools.
Everly O'Daniel led the way for the Tigers finishing 6th while her teammates Madysen Hantuba and Carley Cole were right behind her in 7th and 8th. Mya Hurley and Katie Kelley rounded out the team's top 5, each running under 20 minutes over 5,000m.
The Tigers scored 45 points to Jenks (OK) 52 and Edmond North's (OK) 63. The team had an average time of 19:16 and a 1-5 split of 45 seconds.
The boys picked up right where the girls left off en route to their first victory of the season.
Owen Kelley was the first Tiger through the line, winning his second straight race. The current AR #1 ran a 15:07.64 over 5,000m while doing most of the work himself.
Carter Beasley and Tishan Abeyagunawardene each had spectacular races as well. The duo finished 4th and 5th respectively, each running a 15:50.
The Tigers flexed their depth on Saturday putting their No. 4-7 runners all in the top 12, all within 12 seconds of one another. Dean Pickett, Logan Hurley, Harper Jones, and Ryan Fernstrom rounded out the team's top 7.
Like the girls, the boys picked up convincing victories over the pair of teams from the Sooner State, sharing an average time of 15:48.
Congratulations to the team's from Bentonville!!
