Performance Spotlight: Matthew Thurman Finishes 3rd in TN

The senior from Shiloh Christian keeps getting it done.

Matthew Thurman's breakout season continued on Saturday at the Frank Horton Classic in Memphis, Tennessee as he raced to a third place finish in the varsity boys race. Thurman crossed the line in 15:38.00, which is a new personal best and the 5th fastest time run in the Natural State this season.

In four races this season, Thurman has run 15:50 or faster on three separate occasions, cementing himself as one of Arkansas' best.

Thurman currently owns the fastest time run this season in Class 4A and after finishing 2nd at the state meet a season ago, it's safe to assume the senior now has his sights set on winning his first cross country state championship next month.

Against a field of 39 teams, the boys from Shiloh Christian score 311 points in 11th.

Congratulations Matthew!
