Frick Files: Nine Notes from Early Season Racing

Rhett Moss Owns the Biggest HS Boys Win This Season

Rhett Moss picked up what I believe to be the season's most signature win last weekend.

Last Saturday at the always-competitive Springdale Schools Invitational, the junior from Ft. Smith Southside took down a field of 227, winning the race by over 15 seconds against some of the state's best.

Among some of the best in the field, Matthew Thurman, who ran the 5th fastest time in the state this season, finished 2nd, Nicholas Wheeler broke out for a huge 3rd place, while Ryan Fernstrom finished 4th and Moss' teammate Braden Palmer came through in 5th.

We have not gotten to see many of Arkansas' stars line up against one another early in the season, but Moss took full advantage of the opportunity.

Of course, things can change at any moment. And things may very well change as soon as tomorrow in Lake Hamilton at the state preview, but regardless, with this win Rhett Moss has established himself as one of the Natural State's best and a credible threat to some of the top dogs in 6A.
